As Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri (CCCNMO) journeys through the season of Lent, they invite community members to respond to the needs of their neighbors with a gift to the Annual Lenten Appeal. This is the largest fundraising initiative of the year aimed at supporting their diverse programs and services.

The Lenten season has long been associated with acts of compassion, reflection, and generosity. Catholic Charities upholds these values by accompanying those in need with various programs and case management services. The Lenten Appeal enables the agency to continue serving those in need, fostering hope, and bringing about meaningful change.

“As the charitable arm of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Jefferson City, our commitment to serving the most vulnerable is deeply rooted in our Catholic identity. Our mission transcends faith, culture, and circumstances, reflecting the compassionate essence of our beliefs,” stated Catholic Charities Executive Director, Litz Main, “At the heart of our service is a steadfast dedication to providing aid and support to those in need, embodying our community’s true spirit of charity.”

Every year, the funds raised through Catholic Charities Annual Lenten Appeal go directly towards sustaining and expanding the programs that benefit individuals and families across Missouri. From assisting those recovering from disaster and increasing food access, to reuniting families and helping neighbors find financial stability – their services encompass a wide range of critical needs within the community.

“The transformative power of our services lies not only in their diversity but in their ability to touch lives across faiths, cultures, and circumstances. Through a lens of empathy, we have become a driving force in promoting positive change and fostering a sense of community well-being,” shared Ms. Main.

Most Reverend W. Shawn McKnight, Bishop of Jefferson City, added, “The mission of Catholic Charities is measured by more than statistics; it is an expression of love to those in need and a form of evangelization in and of itself. Sharing the Good News of the Gospels through acts of charity and mercy encounters people’s need, affirms their dignity, and restores their hope.”

Catholic Charities invites individuals, businesses, and organizations passionate about making a difference to join this noble cause. For more information on how to join this Annual Lenten Appeal or donate, please visit https://cccnmo.diojeffcity.org/give.
