Irving, TX, April21, 2017 — PET/CT of Las Colinas is pleased to announce its adoption of NETSPOT for making PET scans to detect and diagnose neuroendocrine tumors more accurate. This cutting-edge tracer has been clinically proven to provide more accurate, clinically relevant information than other tests currently available for the detection and management of neuroendocrine tumors.

“Gaining an accurate, rapid diagnosis and staging information when neuroendocrine tumors are suspected is simply critical for improving the likelihood of a positive patient outcome,” says Dr. Gregory Echt, founder of PET/CT of Las Colinas. “These tumors, although rare, often go undetected for years without symptoms or signs. The end result is a diagnosis that often comes in later stages. Accuracy in that diagnosis stage is vital.”

NETSPOT is a radioactive tracer that is used in conjunction with positron emission tomography (PET) imaging technology. This tracer has been clinically proven to bind itself to neuroendocrine tumor cells, enabling clinicians to bring more clarity and accuracy to the diagnosis and localization of tumors.

“Studies have shown that NETSPOT is highly effective at enabling healthcare providers to obtain patient-specific information that can more accurately guide treatment decisions,” says Dr. Echt. “In fact, one study showed that use of NETSPOT on patients already diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumors resulted in intervention management changes in more than 70 percent of the cases due to the clarity and accuracy of information provided during NETSPOT/PET scans.”

The overall clinical findings about NETSPOT’s accuracy prompted the medical team at PET/CT of Las Colinas to begin offering this diagnostic tool.

“We are committed to providing our patients and medical partners with the most accurate diagnostic information available,” says Dr. Echt. “NETSPOT enables us to do so for patients suspected of having neuroendocrine tumors. Studies have shown this tracer’s accuracy is tremendously high, around 97 percent, with a positive predictive value that is nearly 100 percent,” says Dr. Echt. “
