You might have come across tough cleaning requirements and wondered if there is any better way to clean. Now it is possible to clean most of the things in most of the situation using dry ice blasting.

It should be noted that there is no such thing as ice in dry ice. This substance does not melt as is the case with ice. The compound is actually cooled gas. The gas is quite safe to use as one can find it in our environment.

As CO2 gets concentrated into liquid, and under very low temperature, extruded, there is the formation of dry ice. This end product is then kept in large insulated coolers until the time for their use. Due to non-presence of water, it is dry, and it is ice due to it being frozen. It is cold to a temperature of 115 degrees Fahrenheit below zero.

How much cleaning occurs?

A thermal shock occurs due to a temperature difference between the surface requiring removal and the ice pellets and breaks the bond existing between the crud, mold, dirt, or soot that need to be cleaned, and the surface where these contaminants are stuck. The dry contaminates break up into dust, droppings, or small chips which later on are swept up or sucked away. If it is a wet contaminant, like oils or grease, it will simply drop to the floor on using dry ice cleaning process, where these could be collected on a mat. Later on, the mat needs to be collected and disposed of in a proper manner. On hit, the ice pellets return to gas or sublimates, and there is no secondary waste formation that needs to be cleaned up as is the case with solvent cleaning or sandblasting.

The contaminants that are easily and efficiently cleaned by ice cleaning process are as follows:

• Cutting oils, misc lubricants, gels and pastes
• Grease, oil and assorted petroleum products
• Mold removal
• Old, loose paint
• Mildew removal
• soot removal, Charred wood
• Rubber and injection mold waste
• Mortar, debris, Old plaster that are adhered to brick, concrete, and masonry
• Dirt, grime and misc debris sticking to ceilings, walls, etc…

There are more items that could be cleaning with dry ice.

It is possible to clean most of the contaminants and in most of the conditions using dry ice. And this cleaning method works fine for sensitive computing elements and electrical component as dry ice does not conduct electricity.

Dry ice cleaning is rapidly becoming the best choice for industrial cleaning as well as pressure washing. Although there are other methods of pressure washing like soda blasting, sandblasting, and water blasting, and they have a proven record of cleaning, they are no longer considered as efficient for industrial cleaning due to wastage of precious resources. IN addition, they waste precious resources while at the same time harming the environment.
